In Parsah Noach, we find an interesting connection between the Hebrew word for Ark (teivah) and one of the names for word in Hebrew, which is also teivah. When Noach is told to come into the Ark, we are being told to come into the Word. The manna is connected with Yeshua through His words, I am the bread of life and I am the living bread that came down from heaven. In Jewish thought, derekh shalom—“the way of peace”—is not merely the absence of conflict, but the active pursuit of harmony rooted in Torah values. The sages taught that “the Torah was given only to promote peace in the world” (Gittin 59b), for shalom reflects wholeness, unity, and the presence of God’s blessing. The rabbis affirm that peace is the vessel that holds all other blessings (Uktzin 3:12). For Messianic believers, Yeshua is the fullest expression of this truth, as He is called Sar Shalom—the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). Through Him, the reconciliation of heaven and earth becomes reality, and we are invited to walk in His footsteps, bringing healing, humility, compassion, and justice into the world as vessels of God’s shalom. Nitzavim is always read on the Shabbat before Rosh Hashanah. It begins the Ten Days of Awe, which lasts until the end of Yom Kippur. There is great significance in this parsha in the lives of all Israel, even today. Moses stated "You stand today, all of you, before the Lord your God; your chiefs, your tribes, your elders, and your officers, even all the men of Israel, your little ones, your wives, and the alien who is within your camps, from the one who chops your wood to the one who draws your water, that you may enter into covenant with the Lord your God, and into His oath which the Lord your God is making with you today as His people..... not with you alone am I making this covenant and this oath, but with those who are not with us here today." Parsha Ki-Tavo is about the blessings and curses that shall follow Israel as they go into the land. From the level of pashat, this parsha is very easy to understand. Yet we know that every word in Hebrew points not only to a remez but to a corresponding point of mussar. This message will cover the remez of Deuteronomy 26:1, which states, "And it shall be, when you enter the land which Adonai your God gives you as an inheritance, and you possess it and dwell in it, that you shall take of the first of all the fruit of the ground, which you bring in from your land that Adonai you God gives you, and you shall put it in a basket and go to the place which Adonai your God chooses to cause His name to dwell there. Ki-Tetzi is unique because it contains more mitzvot than any other parsha. There are over seventy mitzvot in this parsha. This many mitzvot in one parsha show the need to consider the mussar associated with these mitzvot. The Midrash states that, "The commandments are given not for God's sake, but for your sake, that you may be refined by them. That refining process requires an understanding of mussar. Mussar emphasizes personal character refinement and ethical behavior in a world that is increasingly out of control. This message utilizes three mitzvot that, when combined with mussar, demonstrate how to embody holiness in our everyday lives. In Parsha Re'eh, we understand that Re'eh means more than just optics. It involves perception, discernment, and turning our hearts toward a continual relationship with HaShem. Midrash Tanchuma tells us that the eye sees, the heart desires, and the body acts. Yeshua confirmed this concept in Matthew 6:22 when he said, "the eye is the lamp of the body; if your eye is single, your whole body will be full of light. Yeshua is our example of one who stands inside Re'eh, showing us that learning how to see spiritually illuminates our entire being with HaShem's light.
